Fruit Routes Olympics, Apple Pressing, Harvesting, Feasting, Artist-led walk & Campus Apple Bake Off 2016 coming up

Loads to celebrate this year at harvest time! This year walking artist Alison Lloyd is joining us for the Fruit Routes walk around the Route.

Alison Lloyd walks alone, for considerable distances, keeping off paths, striding and ‘contouring’ through moorland and mountainous areas. Lloyd began to incorporate solitary walking into her work in the 2000s, and is undertaking a practice based PhD exploring women walking and art at Lougborough University, School of the Arts.

And we are chuffed to be working with Transition Loughborough and their hand made apple press on Friday & Saturday (just come along, press apples and take away fresh juice) as well as hosting a baking demo by master cake & pastry chef Marta Child at the fab Bom Bom Patisserie. Bom Bom are also making a themed Fruit Routes desert during the Harvest period and serving as a bake off apples pick up point from 12 October (see below for more on Bake Off and other places you can collect apples). We are running a harvesting & apple pressing event in collaboration with LU Arts & Student Union on Thursday meet 2pm at the Union.

Saturday sees our first  Apple Olympics in honour of Loughborough’s sporty connections. Events include apple relays, apple juggling, tossing and other classics. We also hope to run the first Fruit Routes run (1km) around the Route. All can take part. Places on the run are limited  so please contact me to reserve a place.
